The Creeps & Weirdos in New York
The Creeps & Weirdos at NFT.NYC was a historical intervention in the streets of New York, bringing one of the ecosystem's most pioneering and disruptive collections to Times Square and Soho. I had the honor of being one of the 30 international artists who brought this series of 108 unique digital artworks to life via DADA.art. Originally launched on Halloween 2017, the Creeps & Weirdos collection is foundational to crypto-art history, not only for its visceral aesthetic but for its technical legacy: it was among the first to integrate artist royalties into its smart contract.
During our 2022 "Xtravaganza," we flooded the city with posters, took over the giant screens at Times Square, and participated with our own float in the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. As part of the artist delegation in New York, we worked live at our pop-up gallery, creating physical installations like Dada’s Embrace and The Essence of Absence, which explored community connection and border bureaucracy.
The highlight was the "Creep & Weirdo Wedding," a surrealist performance in the Meatpacking District where I played the leading role as the groom. In this ceremony, officiated by the "High Priest of Crypto Art," we symbolically united the 2017 and 2019 collections, celebrating the love and resilience of our movement against market speculation.
